MacRumors points us to AT&T’s new ‘Upgrader App’, that lets users pre-order the iPhone 4S directly from their iOS device (due out on the App Store later today). It lets you pre-order right from your handset starting Friday, October 7. Besides actually performing the evil deed of purchasing the darn thing, the app lets users know their upgrade eligibility and how much the iPhone 4S will cost them. We’ll update when it goes live....

With the release of iOS 12 and watchOS 5 earlier this week, developers are hard at work updating their apps to support the new features. Specifically for watchOS, developers of major third-party audio playing apps are now updating their apps to allow playback without the need of your iPhone. Joining that club today is Audible. Audible today has updated its app to add support for syncing audiobooks to your Apple Watch, letting you listen to audiobooks without the need of your iPhone....

Although it is an animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender has never hidden away from tackling mature topics. The series itself has gone to some seriously dark emotional places, which is surprising considering it came from a network such as Nickelodeon. Over the course of the series’ three-season run, Avatar has given moments and stories that have caused shock, elation, and tears. Looking back over the course of the entire series, there are plenty of heartbreaking and tragic events that come to mind....

Arrow’s 150th episode, “Emerald Archer”, raised a number of questions as it looked back through the series’ past. At the same time, season 7, episode 12 began to lay out a foundation for the show’s future, both for of our heroes in 2019 and the alternate future timeline of 2038. Most of the episode was filmed through the literal lens of a mock documentary, which was meant to explore the history of vigilantism in Star City and how their police department was breaking new ground by employing its superheroes as peace officers....

There has been a lot of speculation recently that a trailer for the Assassin’s Creed adaptation would be released soon. This has been fueled largely by the release of a number of stills from the film, suggesting that they came from iconic scenes that were being cut together for inclusion in the trailer. It turns out that the speculation was right, as the first trailer for the film is slated to drop on Wednesday, May 11....

The co-creator of Assassin’s Creed admits that game series was originally just supposed to be a trilogy. Over a decade on, and having covered so many different eras of history, it is astonishing to think how far the series has come since those early days of the Third Crusade. Moving beyond the Holy Land to tackle the likes of the Italian Renaissance, Colonial era, the French Revolution, and even the Victorian period, Ubisoft has shown time and time again that Assassin’s Creed has legs....

While Apple TV+ and Disney+ are both slated to launch in less than a month, the debut of HBO Max is also on the horizon. In a new interview with Retuers, AT&T COO John Stankey said that the company will give HBO Max to current subscribers for free. Stankey said that AT&T plans to make HBO Max available at no extra charge to AT&T customers who are also HBO subscribers. According to the COO, this means 10 million AT&T customers will get free access to HBO Max when it launches in the spring of 2020....

In previous years, agencies had only used voluntary Technical Assistance Requests (TAR) to get service providers to help them, but the latest report shows NSW Police in the past year also turned to the first of the compulsory notices available. That request, used in a homicide investigation, is the first use of a compulsory Technical Assistance Notice (TAN) to force a provider to use a capability they already possess. Assistance notices issued by state-level law enforcement are reviewed by the Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police (AFP)....

A tie-in novel for Arrow has been announced, connecting the events of the show’s season 5 finale to the season 6 premiere episode. As superhero TV series are inclined to do, Arrow ended last season on a bang. In this case, it was a literal one, as explosions went off all over Lian Yu. For now, it’s unclear who survived the event, though most of Team Arrow have already been confirmed to be back....

Arrow has been teasing Lyla Michaels’ “Crisis on Infinite Earths” character as far back as season 1 of The CW series. It was confirmed in early October through a new image for the upcoming crossover that Lyla will suit up as Harbinger for “Crisis on Infinite Earths”. It hasn’t been confirmed yet if Earth-1’s Lyla will don the costume, or if a Lyla from a different timeline will take on the role of the comic book character....

This gives OEMs a green signal to work on their iterations and release Android 12 updates on their devices which includes Asus as well. [Source] Taiwanese brand Asus is known for its electronic good and Asus smartphones are one of them. Although the device variant and userbase are quite less in terms of other OEMs, Asus has somehow tried to release new smartphones every year and pushes software updates too....

To be honest, Asus hasn’t been too thorough with major Android updates and has stuck to minor updates so far. Google unleashed Android 10, the tenth iteration of the Android operating system brings a lot of the table. According to the timeline, Google released Android 10 on September 3rd after it officially renamed it as Android 10 rather than sticking to a dessert nomenclature. Henceforth, Google will be using numerical identifiers for its Android OSes where Android Q became Android 10, Android R will become Android 11, and so on....

One slightly surprising spec in the new 15-inch MacBook Pro line-up is that even the base model got an AMD GPU. Previously, Apple has offered only integrated GPU in the base model, reserving discrete graphics for the higher-specced models. John Gruber noticed that the ArsTechnica review explains this: it was the only way to allow the machine to drive two 5K monitors. And the reason for that is that Apple had to use something of a workaround to achieve it …...
