Back in 2005 when the world was introduced to the concept of “bending” the elements in the hit animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, they had no idea what they were getting into. A decade and a half later and audiences are still in awe of the martial-art-influenced ability that harnesses a perfect combination of beauty and deadliness. While not everybody in the Avatar universe could bend the elements as they pleased, and only one person could bend them all, there were certainly some benders that stood out more than others in terms of what they were able to do with their respected element....

Ben Affleck debuted as the DC Extended Universe version of the Caped Crusader in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice this year - and word is that next year, he will begin production on The Batman, a solo movie for the DCEU Batman that Affleck will also direct and co-write. Joe Manganiello is playing the assassin Deathstroke in Affleck’s Batman film and recently reaffirmed that production on the project looks to begin in the first half of 2017....

This year’s annual Arrowverse crossover will not include Legends of Tomorrow. Instead, the crossover, which will introduce Gotham City and Batwoman, will only incorporate Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Like the recently announced Batwoman TV series, Legends of Tomorrow began as an Arrowverse crossover event. “Heroes Join Forces” in 2015 provided the setup for the main story behind season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow. Images are surfacing on Twitter that depict actor Ashton Kutcher as the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs during his bowtie-wearing days. The biopic is apparently filming now at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Calif., where students are live on scene to capture the action. The last gallery image (via X17 Online) of Kutcher noticeably dressed as an older Jobs is also reportedly from the Los Angeles set. Related articles...

Following a temporary injunction on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia, retailers say they aren’t prepared to back down despite legal threats from Apple and will continue selling the device by setting up new entities outside the “jurisdiction of Australian courts”, according to a report from The Sydney Morning Herald. One retailer, dMavo, is even reorganizing their online operations and setting up an entirely new entity elsewhere in Europe to push the tablets, saying they’re ready for a “cat and mouse game” with Apple:...

Though strikingly different in tone, TV series The Flash and Arrow were well connected even before the speedster got his own show. Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) was first introduced to viewers in season 2 of Arrow, as a forensics scientist from Central City with a personal interest in a robbery at a Queen Consolidated warehouse. The following mid-season finale showed the particle accelerator-induced storm and the bolt of lightening that turned Barry into a metahuman....

The CW’s big superhero crossover event has begun. Starting with Supergirl on Monday, then leading into The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow the rest of the week, all four shows in the network’s Arrowverse will finally come together with its heroes facing a race of aliens known as the Dominators. While Supergirl’s Earth has its fair share of aliens already, the action actually kicks off on The Flash, when Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is forced to seek out Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) and ask for her help....

AT&T has announced that it has come to agreement to acquire U.S. carrier Leap Wireless (which operates the Cricket brand) for $15 per share. The acquisition will cover all of Leap Wireless’s assets, expanding AT&T’s coverage to Leap’s 5 million subscribers. Leap, notably, runs a pre-paid deal for iPhones in the U.S. This move enhances AT&T’s spectrum, retail store count, employee number, and more, so it is likely a positive move for its wireless customers....

Ubisoft has new technology that could soon allow Assassin’s Creed players to visit multiple timelines during the course of each game. Assassin’s Creed could get a lot more interesting, with each game becoming bigger and broader than ever before. In each Assassin’s Creed game, players step into the shoes of a character who spends time in something called an Animus. This is a machine that uses DNA to allow those that use it to relive the lives of assassins who existed in the past....

Aurora HDR, the Mac App Store Editors’ Choice-winning high-dynamic range (HDR) photography tool, is receiving significant updates ahead of the holidays. Released last month by Macphun and leading HDR photographer Trey Ratcliff, Aurora HDR automatically and intelligently merges multiple exposures of an image together, radically expanding details in light, shadowed, and colorful portions of the photo. It comes in basic (regularly $49.99) and Pro ($99) versions, the latter with a free trial....

The experience of a Brisbane woman provides a handy reminder to exercise caution when buying gadgetry via classified ad sites. The Herald Sun (via Gizmodo) reports that the 21-year-old paid AUS$1500 (US$1335) for what she thought were two seemingly-new iPhones, boxed and sealed, without checking inside. Once she got home, she unsealed the two boxes to find each did indeed contain an apple – unfortunately it was the fruit rather than the phone....

Back in 2009, James Cameron revolutionized cinema with Avatar, a sci-fi epic largely considered one of the most technologically advanced and visually impressive films of all time. Next week, Apple will debut a new element of Tim Cook’s plan to sell more iPhones direct from Apple Retail. The company, on Tuesday, July 23rd, will release an updated version of its Apple Store application for iPhone and iPod touch, according to a source with knowledge of the app. The new app has been redesigned to fit more in line with the user-interface of the App Store, iTunes Store, and iBookstore in iOS 6....

Asus made some headlines with the release of the Asus ZenFone 6 or Asus 6z back in 2019. It was not all the meaty specs that the phone carried that made it to the headlines. In fact, it was the new camera arrangement that Asus went ahead turned all the heads. The company instead of using a punch-hole, notch, or pop-up mechanism, used a rotating hinge mechanism for its camera module....

AT&T is set to release fourth-quarter 2012 financial results Jan. 24, but the carrier announced today that it sold more than 10 million smartphones during the quarter. The company’s sales figure beats its previous record of 9.4 million, set in the fourth quarter of 2011, and includes “best-ever quarterly sales of Android and Apple smartphones.” AT&T Mobility President and Chief Executive Officer Ralph de la Vega noted AT&T saw 110,000 smartphone sales a day, because customers “flocked” to its latest Android, Apple, and Windows devices....

The tech analyst’s latest Future of Jobs Forecast estimates that as many as 12 million jobs could be lost to automation across Europe by 2040, primarily impacting workers in industries such as retail, food services, and leisure and hospitality. Mid-skill labour jobs that consist of simple, routine tasks are most at risk from automation, the report said. These roles make up 38% of the workforce in Germany, 34% of the workforce in France, and 31% of the workforce in the UK....
