AT&T this morning announced first two devices 4G LTE devices, both Mac compatible: A 4G LTE mobile hotspot and a 4G LTE USB modem. If you live in any of AT&T’s five 4G LTE markets (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, with more coming by the year’s end), you can take advantage of 4G LTE speeds. Those living outside the initial 4G LTE coverage needn’t worry because AT&T, as they say, will have the only combo LTE/HSPA+ network and both devices feature HSPA+ support as a fallback technology....

Following in the footsteps of Verizon and T-Mobile, AT&T today announced a new unlimited data plan available to all of its customers. While AT&T brought back an unlimited data plan last year, it was limited to DirecTV and U-Verse subscribers. Yesterday, Facebook/Meta reported its first-ever quarterly revenue drop. Apple yesterday unveiled ARKit 3, adding support for features like people occlusion, motion capture, multiple face tracking, and much more. During a developer session on the new ARKit platform today, Apple offered additional detail on the functionality, including that it will be limited to only the most recent iPhones and iPads. Apple said today that ARKit 3 features will only be supported on iPhones and iPads that are powered by an A12 Bionic processor or newer....

AT&T just announced it is forking over $780 million in cash to gobble up wireless spectrum. The carrier said it would specifically acquire Atlantic Tele-Network’s U.S. retail wireless operation that covers about 4.6 million folks in rural areas of Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina. As part of the deal, AT&T will get wireless spectrum licenses, network assets, retail stores, and roughly 585,000 subscribers. AT&T uses the 700MHz band for its 4G LTE network, as well as 850MHz and 1900MHz for its 2G and 3G networks....
