This week marks four years since the original HomePod was released, and the fate of Apple’s smart home efforts are just unclear as they were then. Having the ability to perform different actions based on certain conditions is a critical component of any programming language. One of the ways that you can have your program execute code based on a decision is with conditional statements. Conditional statements are the set of commands used to perform different actions based on different conditions. In ASP, we use VBScript code to implement several types of conditional statements. Apple’s cheer at the generally positive market reaction to its quarterly report may be somewhat muted by the news that iPhone sales fell at both AT&T and Sprint. AT&T’s Q1 results revealed sales of 4m iPhones, or 67% of all its smartphone sales. AT&T CEO, Randall Stephenson, said during the company’s earnings call today that its 5G plans in the future will likely be tiered with customers paying more for faster speeds, similar to broadband home internet plans (via The Verge). The expected future change will be notable for AT&T customers as current LTE plans give users the fastest speeds possible for one price. Stephenson sounds quite confident that tiered plans that increase in cost for faster speeds will be coming to AT&T with 5G over the next couple of years:...

Legendary action star Arnold Schwarzenegger has been cast in the Michael Fassbender-fronted feature expansion of popular short film Kung Fury. Written by, directed by, and starring Swedish filmmaker David Sandberg - for reference, not the same David Sandberg that’s set to direct Shazam for DC - the original Kung Fury short was released in 2015, and quickly became an online sensation. Set in 1980s Miami, Kung Fury did not hesitate to get crazy, incorporating time travel, dinosaurs, and Hitler, among other things....

AT&T breaks the gig barrier for home internet On Monday, AT&T broke the gig barrier when it announced its fiber customers can now get multi-gigabyte (GB) internet speeds, as the carrier doubles down on fiber in its broadband infrastructure. AT&T will offer symmetric 2.5GB and 5GB speed options beginning this week. AT&T is also rolling out simpler pricing for its fiber portfolio without additional equipment fees, annual contracts, and data caps....

Before Charlize Theron’s Lorraine got to beating up Russians with an extension cord in director David Leitch’s Atomic Blonde, she was giving her debrief to MI6 in the 2012 Oni Press graphic novel, The Coldest City. Arrow season 8 marks the final season for the long-running and groundbreaking superhero series, and The CW has made sure that the Arrow season 8 cast is a strong one. Shortly after Smallville ended in 2011, the network launched Arrow, which subsequently became the foundation for an entire shared universe that now includes The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow, as well as other productions. Officially renewed in early 2019, Arrow season 8 consists of only 10 episodes and chronicles Oliver Queen’s final adventure as he faces his past and ends his long, rugged journey as a superhero....

The CW’s Arrow star Stephen Amell confirms Emily Bett Rickards will return as Felicity Smoak for the series finale after exiting in the season 7 finale. Rickards joined the DC TV show in season 1 as the lovably awkward tech genius Felicity Smoak, and became an integral part of the original Team Arrow - which included Oliver Queen (Amell) and John Diggle (David Ramsey). She became the Green Arrow’s “girl in the chair,” directing him on missions from inside their headquarters....

Update: Ubisoft announced today that For Honor players will enter the world of Assassin’s Creed with their first crossover event – For The Creed, running from today, December 20 to January 10 on all platforms. This three-week in-game event will fully transform the For Honor experience using the power of the Animus as players relive the lives of fearsome Knight, Viking, Samurai or Wu Lin Heroes. Abstergo has created a new gaming experience, called For The Creed, that utilizes the Animus to transport players to an age where the Knights, Vikings, Samurai and Wu Lin wage war on each other....

Acton star Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals he’s willing to star in both True Lies 2 and Last Action Hero 2. The actor broke the news while his discussing his latest film, Terminator: Dark Fate. In Terminator: Dark Fate, Schwarzenegger reprises his famous T-800 character, who first appeared in James Cameron’s 1984 classic The Terminator. Produced for just $6 million, the franchise-starter earned over $78 million in theatres, and allowed Schwarzenegger to pursue more high-profile roles in the action genre....

Things aren’t going to get any better for Oliver Queen anytime soon, at least not according to a new synopsis for an upcoming episode of Arrow. All year, the battle against Adrian Chase/Prometheus has spelled doom for the Green Arrow and his friends. Of course, it’s almost made for some great television and a strong season for the flagship show of the Arrowverse. But while Oliver has had his resolved strengthened and gained some valuable allies, he’s not out of the woods yet....

After Felicity was informed of William’s existence by Damien Dahrk – in what may have been his dastardliest move since doing away with members of Star City’s government – there was no doubt her relationship with Oliver was bound to be on shaky ground....

As expected, Apple, alongside the new iPhones, has expanded the AppleCare+ Protection Plan service to Australia. Apple has been training its support staff and retail employees in Australia on AppleCare+ over the course of the past week. Unlike the previously standard plan, AppleCare+ provides support for up to two instances of accidental damage. Apple revamped its AppleCare offerings earlier this year. Apple has posted a legal-jargon-filled note on its Support website about the new plan for Australia....

Big news today (surprisingly on a 4 day US weekend). The AT&T and T-Mobile merger was withdrawn from the FCC today. The two companies look to be pursuing an alternative plan… But, AT&T has taken a $4B pre-tax charge in recognition that the deal isn’t likely to be going through and they are likely going to have to pay T-Mobile for the effort as part of the original merger agreement. That means the deal is pretty much over, at least in the eyes of AT&T’s own accountants....
