Aubrey Plaza may be looking to capitalize on her Legion buzz by stating her hope to play Catwoman in the DCEU. Plaza broke onto the scene with Parks and Recreation, but has recently found another breakout role in Legion. FX’s Marvel based show was critically praised for how unique it was and thanks to the performances it entailed. Plaza’s performance in particular allowed her to show the full range of her acting abilities, establishing her as a force to be reckoned with moving forward.

While she has found plenty of success on the small screen, the big screen has not been as friendly or rewarding for Plaza. Some of her most recent endeavors like Dirty Grandpa and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates did not receive a warm reception, though upcoming projects like Ingrid Goes West look to better play to Plaza’s knack for dark comedy. However, the role that Plaza is apparently most eager to land is that of Selina Kyle.

Plaza took part in an AMA on Reddit to discuss her latest project The Little Hours. One of the many questions submitted asked her what movie she most wants to be a part of. Her response was simple and clear saying, “I want to be cat woman.” Plaza certainly has the talent to pull off the part successfully, but what about the look? Thanks to Wee Arts, we can see one possible portrayal of her:

This isn’t the first time Plaza has expressed a desire to play Catwoman either. She’s said in previous interviews that she would die if she got this role and had the opportunity to work alongside Ben Affleck. With the DCEU moving forward with big plans, there would be plenty of chances for Plaza to appear as Catwoman. The earliest teases for David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens had Catwoman and Poison Ivy joining Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). There has yet to be any casting information on that role yet, so maybe she can still get her wish after all.

She would certainly add a new twist to Catwoman if she were to be cast in it, but would be a great chance to further elevate her name. Plaza is in a perfect space where many people know who she is, but she’s also yet to land that big screen-defining role. Joining the DCEU as Catwoman would certainly do that. With Matt Reeves just starting to get to work on The Batman and rewriting the entire movie, maybe Catwoman will find a way into this film. Whether it Batman, Gotham City Sirens, or some other property, Plaza would be a great get for the DCEU.
