There is perhaps no other video game property that has courted quiet as much wide-spread acclaim and attention in the past ten years than Assassin’s Creed (from developer and publisher Ubisoft) has. With a feature length adaptation of the best-selling series on the way from director Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) and starring Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard (who costarred in Macbeth with Fassbender), anticipation surrounding the big screen installment in the historical/fantasy adventure property is quite high right now.
Following the release of the film’s first official trailer, all eyes are set towards the theatrical release of Assassin’s Creed later this December. The movie is already promising the inclusion of such iconic lore from the original video game franchise as the Apple of Eden and references to the First Civilization, plus a number of original characters from the games. On that note, the latest peek behind the curtain provides a closer look at the on-screen assassin costume soon to be worn by Aguilar de Nerha (Fassbender).
Released by the official Ubisoft website yesterday afternoon, a number of shots taken of Fassbender’s official assassin costume have been revealed for both the general moviegoing public and any future cosplayers who might wish to don the film’s stunning black robes in the future. The images are exceptionally detailed and offer plenty of service to the fans who might wish to develop their very own Assassin’s Creed franchise -inspired garments.

Getting to see the robes shown thus far in official shots from the film proper and in the stunning full-length Assassin’s Creed trailer is certainly a special privilege for longtime players of the original video game property from Ubisoft. Just how capably Fassbender will prove in filling out the role (and wardrobe) remains to be seen, though the acclaimed actor will no doubt prove to look even more dashing and debonaire than the outfit already is on its own.
Only time will tell whether or not Kurzel and company are able to pull off the task of adapting Assassin’s Creed to the big screen in a manner fit to please both the gamer elite and general audiences alike. Either way, Aguilar de Nerha is sure to prove to be a daunting assassin in the new movie, and Fassbender will no doubt bring all of his esteemed talent to bear in bringing the role in question to thrilling life on the big screen.
Assassin’s Creed will see theatrical release in the U.S. on December 21, 2016.
