Before spinning off into their own time-travel adventure series, many of the main characters on Legends of Tomorrow appeared in Arrow and The Flash, their fellow DC Comics shows in The CW universe. In the series premiere episode of Legends of Tomorrow, time traveler Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) assembled his team of eight “legends” in order to face off against the immortal villain Vandal Savage (Casper Crump).

Savage served as the central villain during this year’s Arrow/The Flash crossover event, which additionally brought Carter Hall a.k.a. Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Kendra Saunders a.k.a. Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) to the forefront. Now, a recognizable villain from Arrow will make an appearance on the second episode of Legends of Tomorrow.

Stills for the second episode of Legends of Tomorrow, ‘Pilot Part 2’ (via CBM) feature Arrow season 4 villain Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) working with Savage. Additional details from the official synopsis for the episode reveal members of the Legends team will be part of a munitions deal, likely with Savage and Darhk. Take a look at the synopsis and images:

STEIN VS. STEIN — Tipped off to Vandal Savage’s (guest star Casper Crump) whereabouts, the team infiltrates a munitions deal with Professor Stein (Victor Garber) as their leader. Surrounded by some of the toughest criminals in the world, things quickly go from bad to worse when Savage realizes they don’t belong there. A massive fight ensues and a piece of the Atom’s (Brandon Routh) suit falls off and into the wrong hands, which could potentially cause disastrous consequences in the future. Stein realizes the best way to retrieve the missing piece is to contact a brilliant man – his younger self. He, Sara (Caity Lotz) and Jax (Franz Drameh) head off in search of young Martin Stein (guest star Graeme McComb), much to Rip’s (Arthur Darvill) consternation. Meanwhile, Snart (Wentworth Miller) and Rory (Dominic Purcell) plan to steal a key element in defeating Savage but still unsure of his new teammates, Ray (Brandon Routh) demands to come along on the mission. Carter (guest star Falk Hentschel) helps Kendra (Ciara Renée) remember something vital. Glen Winter directed the episode written by Phil Klemmer & Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg.

Based on the clothing in the stills, it seems safe to say the episode will take place in the past - perhaps still in the 1970s, where they traveled in ‘Pilot Part 1’. So the Legends will be meeting Darhk prior to his arrival in Star City and conflicts with Oliver Queen a.k.a. Green Arrow (Stephen Amell). Though Damien Darhk appears to be the first, he won’t be the last Arrow villain to appear on Legends of Tomorrow; Matt Nable is set to reprise his role as Ra’s al Ghul, the leader of the League of Assassins, on the show as well.

However, at least in the case of Darhk, it appears the villains will only be featured because they have a connection to Savage, the main antagonist of Legends of Tomorrow. So, these cameos will be linked to the overarching storyline of the series. Plus, Darhk and Ra’s won’t be the only Arrow and The Flash characters to appear throughout Legends of Tomorrow; showrunner Phil Klemmer confirmed the series will feature older and/or younger versions of Oliver and Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash (Grant Gustin).

Since Legends of Tomorrow is a time-travel series, it has the opportunity to feature a number of crossovers with Arrow and The Flash without having too much impact on the other shows’ timelines. It seems Legends of Tomorrow will take advantage of that as much as possible in its first season.
