It’s the end of an era as Arrow star Stephen Amell completes filming on the CW series. Now in its eighth and final season, Arrow made a name for itself by kick-starting the Arrowverse, which now includes four shows in addition to the one that started it all. Amell plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, a vigilante who assembles a team to fight those who have failed his city. Throughout the course of the series, Oliver wrestles with his parents’ legacy and struggles to keep his loved ones safe....

A feature that Apple originally introduced with iOS 6 but is implemented on a carrier by carrier basis is Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). Verizon and at least some Sprint iPhone users have a “Government Alerts” pane in Settings to enable both emergency alerts, such as those from FEMA, and AMBER alerts. Today, AT&T announced that the feature will be coming to its iPhone 5 and 4S users, as mandated by law, through an over the air software update....

The reason we haven’t heard or seen anything about it, is because AT&T is being extremely paranoid of how the service will run on their network. “Since I’ve worked here, I’ve never seen them be so worried about legalities,” my colleague explained. Regarding the service being available to Blackberry users, he says that it’s a different situation. Blackberry users haven’t slammed AT&T’s network by the millions in one quarter, in such large rushes....

Arrival has already managed to earn its share of respect from critics. The science fiction drama from director Denis Villenueve racked up plenty of great reviews and various accolades in the few weeks since opening in theaters. Star Amy Adams is certainly getting her share of praise as well for her portrayal of a linguistics professor brought in by the government to help decipher a reason for why aliens have come to Earth....

The new service adds capabilities delivered through Aruba’s existing Remote Access Points (RAPs). It adds SD-WAN and SASE services to the capabilities RAPs already deliver, such as connectivity, identity-based access control, management, and analytics. With EdgeConnect Microbranch services, customers can use policy-based routing, which enables IT to optimize how application traffic is routed to a destination, to complement existing services such as Air Slice, which dynamically allocates AP radio resources to specific applications....

Intel today took the wraps off of its new XMM7650 modem, which offers gigabit LTE performance and is the likely front-runner for the iPhone introduces later this year. As detailed by PC Mag, Intel’s new processor is a direct competitor to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X16. Apple, of course, is currently engaged in a legal battle with Qualcomm… The Intel XMM7560 is LTE category 16/13, meaning that it offers download speeds of 1Gbps and upload speeds of 225Mbps....

According to Digitimes, Taiwan-based Apple product manufacturer, Pegatron, has landed 15 million iPhone 5 orders from Apple. This is the same manufacturer that builds the CDMA iPhone 4. The report says that these 15 million devices are expected to ship in September, as we previously reported, and the upgrade will not be major. In addition, new “manpower” for factories has been hired to handle the iPhone 5 production load. The next version of the iPhone recently reached its final testing stage and is expected to pack the dual-core A5 processor found in the iPad 2, an improved camera with an 8 megapixel sensor (possibly Sony-built), and a design akin to the design of the iPhone 4....

The Last Airbender proved that American serialized cartoons could be just as exciting and relevant as their anime counterparts. Although hopes for a movie franchise fell flat, the show still has a dedicated fan-following and a follow-up series, The Legend of Korra, was also well-received. Like all complex TV shows, however, the original had a few dropped threads that were never picked up, and others that were teased in both the original and subsequent series but were simply forgotten....

Mac share doubles Lehman Brothers yesterday began coverage of Apple stock, offering a $195 target price and predicting Apple’s market share will double by 2013. “Macs may have reached a tipping point with share on its way toward doubling over the next 3-5 years,” said analyst Ben Reitzes. The analyst also observes Apple to be the most well positioned company to exploit the move toward mobile smart devices. More here....

Gob is a bit of a ladies man throughout Arrested Development. He’s had a number of girlfriends, a wife and a sort-of boyfriend during his time on the show, but some of these characters are a little bit better than others. All of Gob’s relationships are complicated because of his childlike nature. He doesn’t know how to fully maintain a relationship and has often struggled to keep a girlfriend. The series sadly ends with Gob single, although there were plenty of opportunities for this not to be true....

Arrow Season 8, Episode 3, “Leap Of Faith,” raised many questions even before its stunning twist ending, which is sure to have ramifications on the rest of the series’ final season. It may also play a major role in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths. Most of “Leap of Faith” was set in the modern day, as Oliver Queen sought answers as to the identity of the Monitor in the oldest source of knowledge he knew of: the ruins of the League of Assassins’ headquarters in Nanda Parbat....

Last week, we reported that Apple has begun development of the successor to the upcoming OS X Mavericks: OS X 10.10. We reported hearing that the future operating system is internally dubbed “Syrah” (a type of wine), and now we have received evidence of the codename. Above is a screenshot of operating systems available for installation by Apple employees internally. As you can see, “Syrah” is available as an operating system newer than Mavericks and the recently released OS X Mountain Lion 10....

The introduction of the Mac App Store, at least for the Mac’s biggest game publisher Aspyr Media, hasn’t been entirely smooth. Aspyr recently outlined some issues with bringing multiplayer to Mac games due to Game Center and sandboxing restrictions of the Mac App Store, and developing separate versions of games for Steam and the Mac App Store continues to be a hurdle. An example is Borderlands 2. It took Aspyr just two months to ship the Mac version, but the Game Center multiplayer won’t arrive until sometime early this year....

AT&T has announced that it’s the first carrier to use location-based routing for 911 calls across the country. This feature allows AT&T to more quickly and accurately detect where a wireless 911 call is coming from. It utilizes the device’s GPS and hybrid information to direct the call to the correct call center. With the location-based routing feature, a device can be located and routed within 50 meters of its location....

Arrested Development is one of the best sitcoms that TV has produced. It’s still beloved to this day, and while the series is seemingly over, that hasn’t stopped fans from talking about it. One of the strengths of the series is how flawed these characters really are. Lucille Bluth is perhaps one of the most flawed characters in the whole series. It’s difficult to talk about just 5 terrible things she’s done, as throughout the series everything she does is manipulative or cruel....

Arrow has seen the show return to its street-based roots in season 5, focusing less on dangers that impact the world at large and more on localized enemies like the newly introduced Prometheus. Mix this in with The CW’s upcoming crossover event that encompasses all of the network’s DC shows (The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow) and mostly positive critical reception, and Arrow could be in the midst of a comeback season....

Since its inception with the advent of Arrow, The CW’s Arrowverse has explored several facets of the DC Universe. In some ways, the franchise’s exploration feels incredibly faithful to the source material from which it is derived. In other ways, however, the Arrowverse has evidently taken several liberties with regard to DC mythos. Often, the liberties taken culminate in something refreshing, fascinating even. Characters that were previously of little significance have become far more interesting and risen in popularity courtesy of the Arrowverse’s giving them a moment to shine....

With Arrow, the Black Canary legacy was a lot bigger than what most Green Arrow fans were expecting. From Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) starting as The Canary to her sister Laurel (Katie Cassidy) rebirthing her mantle as the Black Canary, the series eventually introduced another person to wear the mask: Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy.) While Dinah is Laurel’s mother in the comics, the Stephen Amell-led drama took a different direction as she kept Laurel’s legacy alive after the Earth-1 version of the former attorney-turned-superhero was killed in season 4....
