In recent years, The CW has built up a slate full of predominantly genre shows, including musical comedies, supernatural series, horror procedurals, and telenovela inspired dramas. Additionally, The CW has been building its shared television universe based on DC Comics superheroes since Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) made his debut on Arrow. The series has since introduced Central City CSI tech Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), who spun off into The Flash, as well as a host of other characters that went on to headline Legends of Tomorrow....

The first teaser trailer for the long-awaited adaptation of Artemis Fowl is here, and the music that scores it is a haunting track from indie-rock band Radiohead. Directed by Kenneth Branagh and based on the books by Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl is about a child prodigy (played by Irish newcomer Ferdia Shaw) Always by his side in these endeavors is Artemis’ faithful bodyguard, Butler (Nonso Anozie). Artemis’ search for his missing father leads him to stumble upon a secret underground world of fairies, elves, and other magical creatures, and in particular bring him to blows with Captain Holly Short (Lara McDonnell), an officer in LEPrecon, the reconnaissance division of the fairy civilization’s law enforcement....

As first intimated back in March and pretty much a done deal in September, the FAA has confirmed that use of portable electronic devices by airline passengers will be permitted from gate to gate. Cellular devices must be in flight mode throughout, and you cannot make voice calls, even via Wi-Fi. The ruling only gives the go-ahead to airlines, so there’s no saying when individual airlines might start applying the policy, but it’s unlikely to be before next year....

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is getting some new additions, including a Discovery Tour of the game, as well as a story creator mode that lets players create quests that they can share with other players. Ubisoft confirmed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in 2018, with the game releasing later that year. In the title, players take on the role of a Misthios, the child of a Spartan family, who inherits the legendary Spear of Leonidas....

The Arrow midseason finale threw our team of heroes several devastating curveballs, with fugitive Diggle (David Ramsey) getting caught, Curtis’s (Echo Kellum) husband leaving him because of his secret vigilantism, and Evelyn (Madison McLaughlin) being revealed as a mole for Prometheus. That formidable villain’s worst deed yet was tricking Oliver (Stephen Amell) into killing Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) boyfriend, Detective Malone (Tyler Ritter). That wasn’t the only major twist, however. A distraught Oliver returned to the Arrow cave only to find a surprisingly alive Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy)....

Bitcoin has been surging at an unprecedented pace over the last few days, starting the week at just under $10,000 and rocketing to over $18,000 for a brief period today. Now, in conjunction with the crytpocurrency’s rise, popular Bitcoin wallet Coinbase has become the most dowloaded app in the United States… As first noted by Recode, Coinbase ranked around 400th on the free chart in the App Store less than a month ago, but has spiked to #1, beating out the likes of YouTube, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram....

Update: In a statement to TechCrunch’s Matthew Panzarino, Apple says it is committed to protecting user privacy: Facebook is removing its controversial and spyware-like Onavo Protect application from the App Store. The Wall Street Journal reports today that Apple has ruled the app as being in violation of its data-collection policies. The report explains that apple informed Facebook earlier this month that Onavo Protect violated new App Store Guidelines. Following that communication, Apple and Facebook officials met several times last week, with at least one of those meetings taking place at Apple Park, sources said....

AT&T U-Verse customers will be pleased to learn that today they have access to new content on their iPhone and iPad. The WatchESPN app was previously available to most that subscribe to an ESPN package, but up until today AT&T U-Verse subscribers were not included. With update to version 1.6.6 today, U-Verse customers can now access live streaming feeds from ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU directly from within the universal iOS app for iPhone and iPad....

Arrow season 7, episode 11, “Sins Past”, was largely focused upon the mistakes of bygone days. For some characters, this meant facing their own misdeeds. The main plot of the latest Arrow episode saw Oliver Queen once again confronting the sins of his family, trying to convince his half-sister Emiko Queen and himself that he had become a different sort of man than the one their father had been....

At CES 2019, we saw more computer manufacturers flaunt luxury models with OLED displays. While they still remain far pricier than their LCD counterparts, it’s exciting to see mainstream manufactures at least entertaining the option.
