AT&T has announced the upcoming opening of its new flagship retail store in Chicago. The store, located in the Magnificent Mile district, features 10,000 square feet of store place and lots of advanced new technologies. The store has an 18 foot high “Connect Wall” that showcases AT&T’s latest news and product details to both people inside and outside of the store. Autodesk, the company behind a variety of popular design tools, today has announced a new game engine that it says makes the process of building games considerably more seamless. The program, called Stingray, is based on the Bitsquid engine that it acquired last year, but is entirely revamped with a new, more intuitive interface. While Autodesk wanted Stingray to be easy for smaller game studios to use, it also wanted the engine to feature all of the capabilities required to keep up with the high-end, professional tools that have been around for so long....

We’re experiencing a major sci-fi resurgence at the moment, with each fall movie season bringing a uniquely-pitched genre film that receives widespread praise; 2013 had Gravity, 2014 Interstellar and 2015 The Martian. The latest, however, is quite possibly the best; this year’s Arrival. Arrow executive producer Beth Schwartz admits wrapping up the series after eight seasons was a challenge, but feels confident the hard work will result in a perfect ending. The smart driving assistant Automatic is getting even more capable this morning with the roll out of a new dashboard interface made specifically for the web. You will probably recognize the interface (seen above) if you have used the Automatic app, which connects to a Bluetooth accessory in your car to give you data on driving efficiency and more. The dashboard presents trip history mapped out alongside information including distance, miles-per-gallon, fuel cost, and duration just like the iPhone app....

An Arizona app store antitrust bill has been officially withdrawn, following lobbying by Apple and Google. The bill would have allowed developers in the state to bypass app store payment systems, and thus avoid the 15% or 30% commission the companies charge. The bill was narrowly passed in the Arizona House of Representatives, but a planned vote in the state Senate did not take place, and it now appears that the bill is dead …...

Avatar: The Last Airbender is responsible for changing the way stories are told in children’s television. It was one of the few serialized shows aimed for the age 7-10 demographic and helped usher in an age of Western Anime. No episode of Avatar is irredeemable or unenjoyable, but rather kind of pointless filler. That makes sense, given that every season has around 26 episodes, it’s a necessary evil. And even then, filler episodes either help develop the characters or end up dropping crucial plot points....

James Cameron reveals his long-gestating Avatar sequels are finally forging ahead into the production stage, following years of development. The original film became the highest-grossing movie of all-time back in 2009, raking in $2.7 billion worldwide. Followups were definitely expected after that kind of record-shattering success, but the ever-patient Cameron never rushed into anything, taking his time as he put together four more chapters of his saga. Over this time we’ve gotten to know each member of this estranged group and their relationships with one another.
