Japan-based Sharp Corp is failing to keep pace when it comes to manufacturing screens for Apple’s latest iPhone just weeks prior to the much-reported Sept. 12 launch event. Reuters, which cited an unidentified source, reported today that Sharp is floundering due to high costs eating into its iPhone screen margins. The struggle is apparently raising questions about whether Apple will need to offer “financial incentives” to encourage speedier production: Sharp’s rumored delay comes as it also deals “with a cash crunch amid approaching debt repayment deadlines,” The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this morning....

Following in the footsteps of competitors, Adidas and Under Armor, ASICS will buy fitness app-maker, Runkeeper. The move was announced on Medium by Runkeeper’s founder, Jason Jacobs, and indicates that all fitness apparel companies clearly see the need to embed tracking technology, and/or tie-in apps with their brands. Jacobs notes that partnering with ASICS to fulfill the company’s vision made complete sense. AT&T has launched a new initiative called Mobile Share Value Plans that is designed to save customers money on their monthly AT&T mobile phone service bills. United States carrier AT&T said this morning it activated 7.6 million iPhones during the holiday quarter, besting Verizon’s 4.2 million iPhone activations. AT&T is about to make several 5G smartphone owners angry as the company says “older devices” won’t support its newer 3.45Ghz midband 5G. With that, only iPhone 14 owners and some other 5G phone customers will be able to take advantage of this new band.
